Learn how Devangi designed her day-to-day at Siemens.

Welcome to my journey as a UI/UX Design intern at Siemens on the Digital Advisory Team!

Disclaimer: To comply with my non-discloser agreement, I have masked and excluded private material in this case study. Rest assured, I will be sharing my design process and experiences working for Siemens GBS and am always willing to chat over coffee or on Linkedin about anything in particular, if you'd like!

What does Siemens do?

Siemens GBS is a multinational technology firm specializing on industry, infrastructure, transportation, and healthcare. In particular, I worked with the Digital Advisory team as a UI/UX Design Intern! The Digital Advisory mission is to create great digital experiences for it's customers.

As a UX Design intern, I wore a lot of team hats in order to gain as much experience as possible and master the complexity of the IT challenge!

Snapshot of my day @ Siemens

As a UX / UI Design intern at Siemens, I met with the Digital Advisory & Advanced Analytics Team every morning for a daily coffee chat and day breakdown, where we collaborated on tough projects affecting all aspects of the digital business.

In this context, I was in charge of ensuring that new analytical solutions were available across current projects and that end data consumers had an intuitive experience. Before fully implementing ideas, I frequently contributed to international meetings (between India, Germany and the U.S.) and learned about how to implement user-based research! I generated solution-based mock-up designs in order to develop unique design standards that would give the end user an intuitive experience. Because of the design-like aspect of the task, I confidently offered my ideas to the team, which then traveled to stakeholders.

Fun fact: I even designed the Siemens Global Tech Update logo that is currently being promoted within the organization for all official technology forward events!

Tools I learned

I learned extensively about the tools stated above (Figma, FigJam, and Material UI) as a primary source of design and how to implement them specifically in human centered design for a vast variety of international clients.
